ERP PROJECT MANAGEMENT, POST-LIVE SUPPORT AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS

Task 1: Discussion Question

1. Why is the readiness process so important to an ERP implementation?

Ans.  Preparation process is important for ERP implementation

• Make sure you don’t miss the verification step: Learn about the online date or move it to a different date
• It is necessary to evaluate infrastructure, development, configuration, conversion, testing, training, communications, operations, central control, reporting and users to ensure everything goes well
• Provide information about project teams and companies (must be documented)

2. What are the pros and cons of implementing a system without customization?

Ans. Any system should be considered from the beginning of the privatization plan as it will affect the start of future systems.

Pros:

• Cheaper to implement
• Easy to maintain
• There are several issues with the update
• Vendor support can be used instead of internal

Cons:

• This will be expensive and sometimes difficult to implement
• If settings are common, it can be complicated. It cannot point to the future direction of the organization.
• Organizations should change their processes to adapt to the system

3. Why is knowledge transfer important to the long-term stability of the ERP system?

Ans. It is important to implement the knowledge transfer process throughout the project

• If knowledge is kept and the staff and subject matter experts have knowledge of the organization
• Support costs are reduced because of few support calls. As more knowledge is transmitted within the organization, less knowledge is required to request suppliers for support
• Promote faster learning - if anyone shares that employees are using the same system and know that other employees will help to use the system
• Maximize system capacity
• Reduce troubleshooting time. If all employees know this process, then you can solve the problem on your own
• Correct System Usage - Since the organization implements ERP and is a system that everyone needs to use, it is necessary to use the system as a coherent process rather than using the system in other ways.

4. What are the 5 areas addressed in post-production support?

Ans. Post-production support is divided into

• Users should receive training before surfing the Internet

• Data validation - Continuous execution to ensure that the system is using the process.

5. Name five critical success factors and why they are important to the success of a project

Ans.
