Unit Information Guide

About this unit

Develops assessment, clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills. Students will build upon knowledge and skills in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and evidence based-practice to demonstrate skills in clinical reasoning and diagnosis. Students will identify, collate and comprehend clinical data, including laboratory and radiology, with which to make clinical decisions.

Assessment overview

  1. To pass the unit: Students must submit all assessment tasks and obtain at least 50% of the overall assessment marks for the unit.
  2. Attendance: We recognise the relationship between attendance, participation, student success and retention. Any session or engagement opportunity missed, regardless of the reason, can decrease the opportunity for learning. It is expected that students will attend ALL tutorials/labs/seminars in this unit. In the event of a missed session, it is the student’s responsibility for ‘catching up’ on content.
  3. Marked Assessment Tasks: Assessment tasks submitted on time, other than examination scripts, will be returned to students within 21 days of submission.

Weighting: 40% (in total)

Case Study 1 Due: Friday 27th March 11pm

Case Study 2 Due: Friday 17th April 11pm

Length: Each Part submission = 500 words +/- 10%

Submission: Each Part A case study response to be submitted via Turnitin

Examination period: End of Session 1 (date to be confirmed)

Weighting: 20%

This is a closed-book exam comprised of 40 multiple-choice questions (worth 20% of final grade).

Students will be fully advised during the study period as to when the exam will be held and the format it will take.
