Assignment 3: Group Development Project

Topic:

In this assignment, students will work in small groups to initiate, plan and develop a small application primarily for a mobile device based on the Design Thinking principals.

As soon as groups have been formed, students should begin the preliminary work for the app. There are three deliverables for this assignment.

  1. Deliverable 1: Initial Presentation of idea for App to the className
  2. Deliverable 2: Presentation and Demonstration of prototype
  3. Deliverable 3: Submission of Strategic Document and Prototype

The purpose of the Initial Presentation is to present the idea for your prototype design to the classNameas you would to a potential business client. The presentation can involve initial ideas, including drivers for development, SAP Build prototypes, any studies conducted on your prototype, etc …

You should use the presentation to solicit feedback for your proposal from the classNameto refine your prototype, or perhaps steer the project in a different direction depending on the level of feedback discussion.

After the Initial Presentation, you should then use the remaining time to work on your project.

Your project can be an app for any purpose, however it must be of reasonable complexity for a Masters level project, and not too simplistic as to constitute a trivial exercise. To this end, the following conditions must be satisfied.

  1. The app should contain number of different screens.
    1. You can use various template provided by SAP and edit it according to your requirement.
    2. You are not allowed to use sample Fiori Application as your template.
  2. Your app must contain at least:
    1. 8 different Action items
    2. 3 different containers (other than semantic pages)
    3. Data-binding to Mock data or sample OData service
    4. A data visualization component
    5. A list component
    6. A map component
    7. A pop up message
    8. A user input
  3. You must register your app to Fiori Launchpad and commit it to Git hub
  4. Your app must be able to work with Data

In addition to the prototype, your group will also produce a Mobile Strategic Document to be submitted with the prototype. The structure of the Mobile Strategic Document will be discussed in the ensuing weeks, and a template format will be developed.

The allocated marks for each of the project deliverables are

  1. Deliverable 1: Initial Presentation of idea for App to the className
  2. Deliverable 2: Demonstration of Fiori App
  3. Deliverable 3: Submission of Strategic Document and Prototype

Submission:

Your submission will include the Fiori development files of your working app as well as the Mobile Strategic document.

These should all be bundled into a zip file, named appropriately, and the Zip file submitted to the appropriate VU Collaborate Drop Box which will be available at the end of the semester

Your Mobile Strategic Document must follow the formatting and layout standards specified for this subject.

You must include your findings into Mobile Strategic Document, which demonstrates your Design Thinking approach undertaken to complete your Development Project. These findings can be incorporates as Appendix of your Mobile Strategic Document.
