Assignment Brief
You have been recently recruited as an intern in the newly formed Plastico Ltd. The company has created a management accounting department in addition to the financial accounting department to address the management accounting issues facing the company. Currently, the company produces plastic containers, supplied to both the household and industrial units.
Mr. Brown Alexander who is the Chief executive of Plastico Ltd has seen a statement in a Management Accounting Journal titled, “It is about time businesses adopt modern approaches such as Activity Based Management (ABM) and move away from the traditional management accounting techniques that treat all products and all customers the same”. Mr. Alexander wants to understand the statement to guide him in managing the company.
As part of your responsibilities, you have been tasked to produce a report addressing the following:
- With relevant examples discuss and distinguish management accounting and financial accounting in modern businesses.
- Discuss the roles that management accountant plays in business organisations
- Critically discuss the statement in the Management Accounting Journal.
- With relevant examples discuss the benefits and limitations of ABM.
Structure
You have been asked to produce a report. It should contain the following:
- Appropriate coversheet (as attached in this document) Title Page, including the given title in full.
- Introduction
- Main body, which should also be organised under appropriate headings.
- Conclusion
- Appendices, if any, should be numbered.
- Make sure you refer your reader to them as required.
Layout
Your work should be word-processed per the following:
- Font style, Arial, font size 12 5 line spacing.
- The page orientation should be ‘portrait’
- Margins on both sides of the page should be no less than 2.5 cm
- Pages should be numbered
- Your name should not appear on the script.
